Terms and conditions

1. General

These terms apply to the use of TrapSpotter, a mobile application and web service that alerts users to speed cameras, average-speed zones, and other traffic-related information.

By using TrapSpotter, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use TrapSpotter.

2. Services

TrapSpotter offers a free version and a premium version (TrapSpotter Premium). Speed cameras and average-speed zones (in France as danger zones), hazards and traffic information are in both versions. Premium adds:

• Every police check; the free version shows about half of them
• No ads
• Routes around police checks (not in France)

3. Subscriptions

Plans: TrapSpotter Premium is available monthly or yearly (Premium Jaar). You see the price before you buy, in the app or on the website.

Free trial: new users can try TrapSpotter Premium free for 7 days.

Automatic renewal: after the trial, your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

Cancellation: a subscription from the App Store or Google Play Store is cancelled there. A web subscription is cancelled in the app (Settings → Subscription) or without signing in at app.trapspotter.com/cancel (‘Cancel contracts here’); you get a confirmation by email. Premium access continues until the end of the paid period. If you live in the Netherlands or Germany, a yearly subscription ends, after its first year, no later than one month after you cancel, and we refund the unused part.

Premium from a code: an organisation (for example a garage or a federation) may give you a code for Premium for a fixed period, without automatic renewal. The code conditions apply (trapspotter.com/en/legal/code-terms).

Premium from your employer: if your employer gives you Premium (TrapSpotter Teams or Fleet), your employer manages that subscription under its agreement with TrapSpotter. With Premium from your employer, police checks are on by default. Your employer can switch them off: they are then hidden with Teams, unless you also pay for Premium yourself, and with Fleet during a workday.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by the App Store (iOS), Google Play Store (Android), or Stripe (web). We do not store card details; all payments are handled by PCI-DSS-certified providers.

Withdrawal and refunds: you may withdraw from a subscription bought on the web within 14 days, without giving a reason: in the app (Settings → Subscription → ‘Withdraw from contract here’) or without signing in at app.trapspotter.com/withdraw. The subscription then ends — at once when you are signed in, otherwise after 24 hours, so that a request made by someone else can still be stopped — you get back everything you paid for it, and you get a confirmation by email. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play follow that store’s refund policy. Otherwise, paid subscriptions are not refunded, except where the law provides for it.

5. Use of the service

TrapSpotter is for personal, non-commercial use only. Fleets and businesses sign a separate agreement. You may not:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Copy or modify the app or create derivative works
• Use the app for unlawful purposes
• Use the app to harm or mislead others
• Abuse automated access, including scraping, bots, or mass account creation
• Submit false community reports or spam

6. Safe driving — your responsibility

TrapSpotter is a driving-assistance app. You remain responsible for your driving and for obeying traffic laws at all times. The app must not distract you from the road. The in-app safety notice is mandatory and cannot be skipped.

TrapSpotter is not intended to encourage speeding. Its alerts are designed to support safe and attentive driving.

7. Liability

TrapSpotter is provided as is. We do not guarantee that information will always be accurate, complete, or current. You use TrapSpotter at your own risk.

We are not liable for damage arising from use of, or inability to use, TrapSpotter, except in cases of intent or gross negligence on our part and subject to mandatory Belgian consumer law.

8. Intellectual property

All rights in TrapSpotter, including its software, logos, trademarks, designs, and content, belong to TrapSpotter BV or its licensors.

9. Changes

We may amend these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or an in-app banner. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.

10. Termination

We may terminate your access if you breach these terms. You can delete your account at any time under Settings → Account → Delete account.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts of the judicial district of Limburg, Hasselt division. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may also go to court there.
