Yes. TrapSpotter gives real-time warnings for fixed speed cameras, average-speed zones and mobile checks in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg. Every fixed camera in those countries is mapped, along with its limit and direction of travel.
Is TrapSpotter free?
TrapSpotter has a free tier covering speed cameras, average-speed zones, accidents and roadworks. Police checks are available in limited form on the free tier; the paid subscription unlocks them in full, along with navigation that routes around them.
What is an average-speed zone and does the app warn about it?
An average-speed zone measures your mean speed between two points rather than your speed at one instant. TrapSpotter knows where each zone starts and ends and what its limit is, and tracks your average while you are inside it so you know whether you will leave it too fast.
Where do the reports come from?
From drivers who have just passed the spot, plus public sources for fixed infrastructure. Every report is confirmed or voted down by the cars behind and expires on its own once nobody confirms it. Since January 2024, 2.93 million alerts have been processed.
Which countries are covered?
TrapSpotter covers Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg. Fixed cameras, average-speed zones and mobile checks are mapped in all five; live reports come from drivers in each of them.
Does TrapSpotter work without an internet connection?
Maps and fixed cameras stay available offline. Live reports — police checks, accidents, jams — need a connection, because by definition they come from other drivers at that moment.
Can I use TrapSpotter over WhatsApp?
Yes. TrapSpotter has a WhatsApp channel where you send your location or your route and get an immediate answer about checks along the way, and where you can file a report yourself. No app is required.
How do I delete my account and my data?
You delete your TrapSpotter account in the app under Settings, or by emailing contact@trapspotter.com. Deletion is permanent and covers your reports, your location history and your subscription records.
