The bill
What does it cost?
The first opinion is free. What comes after is, in most cases, paid by your own car insurance.
According to Mijn Boete, more than 90% of car drivers are entitled to a lawyer through the legal-expenses cover included in almost every car policy, and that cover also pays any court costs.
If you fall outside it and do not qualify for a state-appointed lawyer, Mijn Boete agrees clear terms on fees up front — a fixed amount if you prefer, so nothing comes as a surprise afterwards.
What your own policy covers is best checked by you, or asked of Mijn Boete directly. TrapSpotter has no view of your insurance.

Is the first opinion really free?
Yes. Mijn Boete gives a first piece of traffic-law advice free and with no obligation, and you hear back within 24 hours on working days. Fees only come into it if you go on from there — and in most cases they are covered by the legal-expenses cover in your car insurance.
Is TrapSpotter a law firm, then?
No. TrapSpotter is an app that warns you on the road about checks, cameras and hazards. We give no legal advice and handle no cases. Mijn Boete is an independent partner: an initiative of Bannister Advocaten. Your agreement is directly between you and them.
Does TrapSpotter share my data with Mijn Boete?
No. The buttons on this page open Mijn Boete's website or WhatsApp; whatever you fill in or type there, you give to them yourself and directly. We pass on nothing from your account.
Does this apply outside Belgium?
Mijn Boete works in Belgian traffic law and before the Belgian police courts. For a fine from the Netherlands, France, Germany or Luxembourg you are better served by a lawyer in that country.
Better to have no fine to contest
